Magnify docs secure international homes

ITV doc Our Everest Challenge among Plimsoll-backed distributor’s latest sales

Magnify Media has secured sales of factual shows from ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 to a range of overseas broadcasters.

TVNZ in New Zealand, Arte France/Germany, SVT in Sweden and international BBC channels are among those that have purchased the programmes.

Our Everest Challenge, following TV adventurer Ben Fogle and former Olympic cyclist Victoria Pendleton attempt to scale Mount Everest, has been distributed to Polsat in Poland, TV2 in Denmark, TVNZ and LTV in Latvia.

The documentary was produced for ITV by CNN Vision, with whom Magnify has a three-year representation deal. Another ITV series, Great Art, has been licensed to Histoire in France.

The series was produced by Seventh Art Productions and explores the personal and professional lives of the world’s greatest artists.

State-owned New Zealand network TNVZ has also scooped up Channel 5’s Inside Oxford Street, Rare TV’s four-part series exploring the bustling London high street, where an estimated 142 million shoppers spend almost £5bn a year.

Arte has picked up Channel 5’s Wild Great Britain, which reveals the hidden lives of the creatures inhabiting the islands of the UK. The doc hails from Plimsoll Productions, which is an investor in indie distributor Magnify.

Plimsoll’s Secrets Of The 10,000 Year Old Man has also been secured by Swedish public broadcaster SVT, DR in Denmark, BBC Africa and Poland and pay-TV service Foxtel in Australia.

The Channel 4 series investigates the ground-breaking DNA analysis used to reveal the face of the UK’s oldest direct ancestor – known widely as ‘Cheddar Man’.
